梵天

Brahmadeva. Brahmā, the ruler of this world. India. (sa) brahmaloka, the eighteen heavens of the realm of form, divided into four (sa) dhyāna regions (sixteen heavens in Southern Buddhism). The first three contain the [lang id =1028]梵衆天 assembly of (sa) brahmadevas, i.e. the (sa) brahmakāyika; the [lang id =1028]梵輔天 (sa) brahmspurohitas, retinue of Brahmā; and [lang id =1028]大梵天 Mahābrahman, Brahman himself.

梵， 淨也。 謂離欲界垢染， 上升色界， 故名為淨。 若大梵天， 即娑婆世界主。 由修施、 戒二種福業， 勝他化天； 又兼修禪定， 是以感報得生其中也。 （梵語娑婆， 華言能忍。 ）

色界之初禪天名。 因此天無欲界的淫欲， 寂靜清淨， 故名梵天。 此天共有三天， 即梵眾天、 梵輔天、 大梵天， 通常所說的梵天是指大梵天王， 名叫尸棄， 他深信正法， 每逢有佛出世， 必定前來請轉法輪， 此梵天與外道所說的梵天不同。
